How Geolocation is functional
Geolocation is the process of determining the location of an electronic device. Transcy provides 2 key features: Language and Currency. While currency will always be redirected based visitor's location, language will be redirected depending on the conditions you select choose between Visitor browser's language and Visitor's location.
There are 2 modes of Geolocation:
Auto switch: automatically direct to the language/ currency right after entering your online store.
Recommend: show a recommendation popup of the location, language and currency, visitors are allowed to confirm and process to the correct version - Please be noted that in some countries, auto directing to another URL without confirmation might not be allowed. We suggest to use Recommend popup instead.

*Auto switch currency and Recommend currency is available from Basic plan. Auto switch language and Recommend language is available from Growth plan
On the top right of the Geolocation section, click on Settings. From here, you are be able to change the assigned language/ currency of a specific location.

Auto Switch: the auto switch language/ currency will be working by the following rules:
Based on the settings in Geolocation section: it will prioritize the settings in-app. Based on the assigned language/ currency of each location, it will auto direct to the correct version of your store.
Based on Shopify Markets: In case you do not add or publish the assigned language/ currency in Transcy or the assigned currency is added on a specific Market, it will auto switch language/ currency based on Shopify Markets configuration. You can learn more about Shopify Markets here
The option "Show location section on Switcher" is used to changed the location manually. This option is recommended to use when a visitor from a location want to see the language list/ currency list of another location. It only shows the locations which are added on Shopify Markets
Recommend
Recommend popup will also work by the same rule of auto switch.
Show location pop-up on the first visit: tick on this option to activate the recommend pop-up, visitors can confirm the location, language and currency or change it according to their needs. It will show all the locations you add on Shopify Markets. If a visitor comes from a location which is not included in any Market, it will show the default store location (Primary Markets)
*Show location sections on Switcher is used to changed the location manually. This option is recommended to use when a visitor from a location want to see the language list/ currency list of another location. It only shows the locations which are added on Shopify Markets

**Important note for currency option:** Following the new update from Shopify Markets, Transcy has updated the rule of showing currencies. It will only show the currency of corresponding Market and the currencies which do not add in any Markets.
For example: Your store's Primary Market is US (USD). Via Transcy, 2 currencies (Euro, Pound) are added. On Shopify Markets, you create a Market for France and assign Euro as the Market's currency.
Situation 1: A customer visits your store from US, it will auto switch/ recommend USD, and on the switcher, it will only shows USD and Pound -> Euro is added on another Market (France), so it won't show on the Switcher. In case you want to see price in Euro, you can use the Location section and switch to France.
Situation 2: A customer visits your store from Germany, it will auto switch/ recommend USD even though you set Euro on Geolocation settings. Because Euro is already assigned to another Market - France
In summary, you should create Markets for the locations that you target for better customer experience.
